Description: Photographs of New Zealand taken circa 1870s to 1880s, many by unidentified photographers, with several being taken by James Bragge. One that is clearly by Bragge shows his named carriage "J. Bragge. Photographer. Lambton Quay, Wellington" in a photograph taken on the road on the Featherston side of the Rimutaka Hill (on page 18). The first fourteen pages show views of the Pink and White Terraces, each from varying angles. These are followed by views of Ohinemutu. Many of the photographs are unidentified, including one of a meeting house with a group of Maori men, women and children in front. Painted on the maihi are the words "Mauimua Mauiroto Maui", painted fish and Maui in a boat fishing. On page 26 is a photograph of a painting, possibly by Charles Blomfield, showing Lake Rotomahana with the Pink Terraces on the right and the top of the White Terraces in the foreground, beside which there are two men. Description: Signed studio portrait of Stanley Polkinghorne Andrew, seated and wearing a tweed jacket and glasses. Taken by Earle Andrew. Signed 'Yours truly S.P.A.' Border bears the photographer's signature. Backing has 'S P Andrews' written in ball-point pen. Contextual information sourced from donor, who states Martin Shore and Stanley Polkinghorne Andrew knew each other by 1924, as she holds an unpublished print of the 1924 All Black rugby team by Stanley Polkinghorne Andrew bearing annotations by Shore saying Andrew asked Shore to stand in as a body double for a missing player. Comprises images of Haruhiko Sameshima in an office/studio, Mark Adams in an office/studio/darkroom, John B Turner with (his partner?) in a living room and Ian MacDonald with (his partner?) in a room lined with bookshelves.
