Description: A transcription of a diary kept by Percy Amos Arnold during his service in the 9th H-B Company of the Wellington Infantry brigade during the First World War, 1 January 1915 - 8 December 1915. This file was created by Robin Arnold between 2000 and 2015, and includes his comments and his short biography of Percy Arnold. The diary entries cover Percy Arnold's time in Egypt from 1 Jan 1915, including activities: camplife, training, sight-seeing at Pyramids and Cairo, action along Suez Canal, and billeting troops at Zeitoun. It records the sea voyage 11-25 April 1915 to Gallipoli peninsula via Lemnos Island. Continues to record his experience of the war on Gallipoli until being wounded and shipped out to Valetta hospital on Malta in June 1915. Covers voyage to England on hospital ship 'Dongola' via Gibraltar, his stay at the New Zealand military hospital Walton on Thames, and leave in London. Ends 8 December 1915.
