Description: Coverage of this topographic map is from the border of Libya and Egypt showing Bardia and Salum [Sollum] along the coast to El Alamein and approximately 200 kilometres south. Red overprinting of roads and tracks are referred to in a key. Permanent water supplies are marked and are referred to in an extensive key which includes the name of the area, latitiude and longitude, quality and remarks about the supply. Purple overprinting refers to the Egyptian grid. Descriptions of the terrain are in English but all place names are in Arabic script with romanisation, and the same applies to the title and most of the added information. Includes a map index to adjoining sheets. Stamped centre top of map: October 1941, Second edition Overstamped on top of map: This sheet is gridded with 'purple' grid based on Long. 27 (degrees) E. Co-ordinates are referred to at each corner. Also instructions are given for working out grid references Accompanied by a canvas and leather combined massage case and map bag.
