Son of Dr Thomas Duncan Stout and brother of Vida Stout; took over the family farm at Tahora, Stratford District, Manawatu-Wanganui Region. During World War Two served in the Royal Air Force.

Description: View of the Master's House in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, where John Kinder lived while as a teacher at Alleyne's Grammar School. The house is a handsome two-storeyed Georgian brick building with a well-established garden surrounding it. The front door of the house is open, as are some of the paned sash windows. A driveway sweeps from the foreground at right to the front door, and beyond Sarah Kinder lived here with her brother, as well as their sister Charlotte and their mother Fanny, between January 1847 and 1855, when Kinder resigned his post and emigrated to New Zealand in July of that year Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
