House built in 1910 for Christchurch solicitor Thomas George Russell (1851?-1935). Located at 277 Papanui Road, Christchurch. Severely damaged in the Canterbury earthquakes 2010 and 2011. Originally entered in the Historic Places List as a Category 2 historic place (#1897) - Demolished 2011.

Each slide mount is annotated with the name or brief description, and/or the location, of the house. Dates and photographer name are sometimes annotated. Title transcribed from item. Many slides are not dated. Arrangement: Transparencies were arranged in a 6-row, 50 slides per row, plastic case labelled 'South Island Houses'. The arrangement was by location of house, approximately from North to South, from back to front then from left to right. Quantity: 24 colour original transparency/ies. Physical Description: Colour transparencies in plastic and cardboard slide mounts. Processing information: Slides have been removed from container and put into archival pockets, following the original order, from left to right and top to bottom.

Includes a homestead possibly at Murchiston, Highwic in Auckland, 'Aukanui' (no location noted), Blue Cliffs Station homestead, Brancepeth homestead, 'Holly Lea' in Christchurch, and 'knowlescourt' at 274 Papanui Road in Christchurch. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Transparencies were in labelled glassine bags in a sequence of mainly negatives and prints and some transparencies labelled "Houses". Quantity: 8 colour original transparency/ies. Processing information: Transparencies were removed from glassine bags and rehoused for reasons of preservation and appropriate storage.
