Description: Transparencies of concrete construction in New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey Thornton or Jocelyn Thornton. Each slide mount is annotated with the name or brief description, and/or the location, of the concrete structure. Dates and photographer name are sometimes annotated. Buildings/structures and locations annotated on the slide mounts include Blue Baths at Rotorua, old cement kilns at Tarakohe, No. 5 pumphouse at Waihi, Crown Battery remains at Karangahake, concrete ford near Tangiteroria, former freezing works at Hicks Bay, former freezing works office at Waipaoa, Fort Ballance in Wellington, water tower and detail of plaque on water tower at New Zealand Railway Workshops in Addington in Christchurch. Title supplied by Library. Few slides have dates annotated Arrangement: Transparencies were arranged in a six-row, 43 slides per row, metal case. The case was not labelled; the order appears have begun as largely alphabetical by location, name of building/structure, or name of station/farm; however, arrangement becomes more disordered in the last two rows of the case. Processing information: Slides have been removed from container and put into archival pockets, following the original order, from left to right and top to bottom.

Description: Views of newly laid pipelines feeding the Lake Coleridge Power Station. Included in the views are Lake Coleridge Village, the bed of the Rakaia River and the mountains of the Hutt and Black Hill ranges. There are also other images relating to the power scheme including groups of people around the lake, a small unidentified building and a mechanism which was part of the workings of the surge chamber. Also included in this group of images are two photographs of the interiors of the the Addington or Hillside railway workshops. Finally there are three images of electric locomotives. The second group of photographs relate to the rebuilding of the Addington and Hillside railway workshops. The images of Addington were photographed on the 7th of March 1928, and those of Hillside on the 9th of March 1928. There are six images of an unidentified electricity substation. The last six images are of Silston Cory-Wright and one of his children. Quantity: 41 b&w original photographic print(s).
