Description: Shows four birds, possibly all members of the Cuculidae family, which include the cuckoo and the South Island kokako. All the birds except the kokako sit on the twisted trunk of a tree, while the kokako stands on the ground. This plate probably comes from an edition of Gottlieb Tobias Wilhelm's 'Unterhaltungen aus der Naturgeschichte' (Discourse of Natural History), 1795 to early 1800s, of which the complete set comprised 27 volumes Other Titles - Der Ochsenhacker.
