The heights of the stations are depicted. MS copied from a plan drawn by E Fairburn. Inset depicts vertical section at right angles to the Dawn of Hope. Description: Drawn on a New Zealand Survey Department template, depicting a survey plan as application for a mining claim by James Langford in block V Coromandel survey district. Shows area of Sterling dredging claim in the Coromandel Harbour, Albion extended SSBC and old central SSBC, an area of 50 acres. Covering letter attached to map from the surveyor JW Harrison to the goldfield's warden, Coromandel, dated 30 September 1909 (numbered 15234), Reference number MapColl-832.15gbfd/1909/Acc.9490. Description: Gold dredges, gold sluicing, and machinery associated with gold mining in the South Island. Includes a few photographs taken in Australia, particularly the Pioneer Tin Mine in Tasmania. Inserted in a pocket in the front of the album are 19 loose prints, chiefly showing various claims in the North Island, some of which are taken by H J Locke. Also named in these images are the Saxon Mine and Ivanhoe Mine. Pinafore Claim was located at Waiotahi, Thames. Cambria Claim was a gold mine located in Thames. Gold King Dredge was on the Clutha River near Roxburgh circa 1899. Title supplied by Library. Date range estimated partly on dates that dredges were known to be operating.
