Description: Plan of the 5,829 acre property, Ravenswood Run, part of Block V and VI, Gordon District, south of Nelson. The Run includes within its boundary part of the Norris Gulley, part of the Nelson - Motupiko Railway, the Upper Motueka Valley Road, the Motueka River, a small section of the Motupiko River, and Mount Norris. Some sections within the Run are subdivided and numbered. The numbered sections on either side of the Motueka River, coloured pink, are freehold. The boundary of the entire property, marked Run number 22, is pink. Motupiko (which has a school, church and store), Bromells Accommodation House, a bridge, Olivers Road, Wai-iti and Kohatu Station are marked. Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Graeme Dawson accompanied by a comprehensive assortment of supporting land documents; printed material relating to the farm and farm ownership; photographs; maps; family tree. The material has been submitted in a binder which has an index at the front. Original owner was James Gibbs (1809-1892) who arrived in Nelson in 1842 and received a Crown Grant of 500 acres at Wakefield in 1852 having settled on the land in 1847. Lone Oak Farm is owned by his great-grandson Colin Franklin Gibbs in 2007. Description: Hand drawn plan of part section 185, Borough of Motueka, bounded by Parker, Atkins and Poole streets, Motueka. Plan shows boundary measurements, homestead site, surrounding roads described as 'public road' and small section in northwest corner marked with size and owner or leesee, H. Miller. Note on map says 'subdivided in orchards, hop grounds and grass paddocks' but this is not shown on map. The flood channel of Motueka River is marked at top of map. The map showing the actual subdivision of this block of land is DP 231, Nelson Land District, 1907, surveyed by Alfred Rawson for himself and held at Land Information New Zealand. Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Gerald Francis Langford; detailed history of the family and farm; land documents; photographs The original owner of the land was John Alfred Langford (b 1815) who acquired 75 acres at Long Plain Road, 5 km south of Takaka in 1872. A year later he passed joint ownership to his sons Robert Young Langford and Arthur Edward Langford. Arthur became sole owner in 1880. Stephen Philip Ryder - Konini Farm, Riwaka

Description: The papers consist of: History of the Ryder family and farm at Riwaka; memories of Riwaka by W A A Ryder (1883-1968); photographs of original and second homestead, aerial view of Konini Farm (pre 1950); William and Ann Ryder; family group taken in 1903 on the occasion of William & Ann's 50th wedding anniversary; land documents. The original owner of the property was William Ryder who arrived in Nelson in 1854 with his wife Ann Elizabeth (nee Cousins), and took up land at Riwaka in 1860. They called the property Fuschia Hill Farm, and engaged in a butchery business. The farm was taken over by his grandson William Albert Arnold Ryder in 1910. He built a new home on the site of the old homestead and renamed it Konini. At the outset the farm was devoted solely to stock but in 1919 a small area was set out with raspberries and other small fruits, and a considerable area devoted to tobacco growing. In 1946 the old farm was taken over by two sons, Alexander William and Jack Ryder. Jack later took up land further up the Riwaka Valley. The present owners, Stephen Ryder (and his wife Joanne), took over the family farm in 1980. They continued to grow tobacco until the close of the tobacco factory in 1989. They had already diversified into other crops, and by 1998 the farm had entirely developed into apples. Quantity: 1 folder(s). His surveying partner was Joseph ward. He took up land in the Omaka Valley in 1846 and named his property Hawkesbury.
