Tapiata, John Nawaia, 1934-1990

Māori language teacher and expert. Chairman of the National Association of Maori Language teachers 1981-1982. Appeared in the Evening Post 3 September 1982.

Head of Māori Studies, Palmerston North College of Education, during the 1970s. Tapiata was a member of the Federation of Māori Students, the umbrella organisation which presented the te reo Māori petition to Parliament in 1972.
