Trinity Congregational Church (Christchurch, N.Z.)

State Trinity Centre (Christchurch, N.Z.)

Built in 1874 at 124 Worcester Street (corner of Worcester and Manchester Streets). In Gothic Revival style, designed by Benjamin Mountfort. Significantly damaged in the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake, losing its tower. Owner at the time of the quake was Alan Slade who operated the building as 'Octagon Live' a restaurant and entertainment venue.

Description: A pocket inserted inside the front cover holds two photographs of wedding celebrations at a British Army regiment in India. One of the scenes shows a large party of men and women, including British and Indian men in uniform. These were taken circa 1910. The main body of the album contains views of Canterbury, Otago and the West Coast of the South Island, taken around 1877 by an unidentified photographer. Of particular interest is a pair forming a panorama of Lyttelton harbour with about 30 vessels (p. 18-19). The first few pages show views of Cape Town, South Africa, and at the end of the album a few of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
