Description: Rules of the Union for 1939 and 1952 Programmes of the Annual Contest, held variously in New Plymouth, Hawera, Stratford, Patea and Inglewood, in the years 1951-1957, and 1959; and for the centennial 1961. Also includes a programme for the Provincial Bands' competitions at Hawera, 7 April 1962; and at Opunake 16 March 1963. Stanley Peter Newcomb was a bandsman and an authority for many years on the brass band movement. He was editor of the NZ Mouthpiece magazine for seven years and wrote 'Challenging Brass - 100 years of Brass Band Contests in NZ, 1880-1980' and two other books on the subject.
