Description: Programme for a gymnastics display and competition, under the patronage of Sir Robert Stout. It contains an essay by Professor Oscar David about gymnastics, and a programme which included exercies with dumb bells, bridge ladder, vaulting horse, pommel horse, parallel bars, rod. Also included horizontal bar exercises, jumping, climbing, bayonet exercise. Advertisements include an illustrated one for Chas Matthews (hairdresser and tobacconist) Front cover shows a border illustration by R Brown, featuring figures engaged in various gymnastic activities.
