Qua Qual, active 1950

Part Hottentot, part Pawnee Indian, from the Kalahara Desert, Bechuanaland Protectorate. His name means Rain Cloud, and he performed at the Royal Show in 1950 (See clipping in scrapbook at Eph-B-CABOT-Scrapbook-vol-82)

Description: Shows a group photograph of three young people, probably performers, in traditional costume: "Qua Qual" (Rain Cloud), part Hottentot, part Pawnee Indian, Kalahara Desert, Bechuanaland Protectorate. Worships the "Sun", called "Kam". "Shen Yoni Hlabangano Sheeba Solomon", Central African Bushman (cave dweller). Beleives in a spirit called "Thoza", the Fashioner. "Shonna", Central African Pigmy, worhsipper of the Moon, called "Kowel". Dated from a newsclipping in Cabot scrapbook no. 82. These performers appeared in the Royal Show in 1950.
