From: Webb, Murray, 1947- :Digital caricatures

By: Dominion post (Newspaper)

Reference: DCDL-0022994

Description: Caricature of Maori King Tuheitia Paki. Tuheitia is shown with a feather cloak in front of a meeting house holding a bottle of water labelled 'Iwi Water'. Context: In 2012 the New Zealand Maori Council lodged a claim to the Waitangi Tribunal asserting ownership rights to water in response to the National Government's proposal to sell part of its shares in State owned power companies to foreign interests. In September 2012 Maori King Tuheitia called a national hui to discuss the issue of Maori rights over water. The cartoon implies that Tuheitia's support of the claim was motivated as much for monetary reasons than philosophical ones. Title supplied by Library Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
