Description: A farmhouse built at Karori on the site of the present-day cemetery by Edward Standen (d. 1869), inherited by his son William. The house is in the centre above a drive leading from Old Karori Road, partly hidden by large trees; a large barn is on the left. Another house is in the left foreground, on the nearer side of the road. The present-day cemetery area is to the right. Possibly painted from an early photograph; compare [The Standen homestead...] a pastel drawing by A B Seymour (G-) which is known to be copied ca 1942 from a earlier photograph. The aspect is very similar and the artist may be the same. The other work also has the same original provenance Other Titles - Seymour, A B Quantity: 1 oil(s).
