Description: Contains a logbook kept by R F Gambier a midshipsman aboard the `HMS Dauntless', commanded by Captain George C Gambier. The log book records the voyage to the Pacific or `South Seas' in 1821-1822, with details of weather conditions encountered. There are also details of landings throughout the Pacific including Huahini, Tahiti. Also included is a night order book kept by RF Gambier while he was commander aboard the `HMS Satellite' and the `HMS Sappho' for voyages aimed at suppressing the slave trade around Africa during the 1840s.
