Description: Commercial scenic photographic prints, possibly relating to the McGregor family, of a range of subjects circa 1920s-1940s. Taken by various photographers. Contains sets of views of New Zealand including Invercargill (11 images), Christchurch (12 images), Dunedin (11 images) published by Tanner Bros Ltd. The Tanner images feature buildings (including schools, hospitals, and churches), parks and gardens (with rivers and fountains), and monuments. Collection also holds an image of Princess Gate in Rotorua likely taken by Francis Gordon Radcliffe. Two Whites Aviation images show Imperial and Commonwealth Games venues Olympic Pool and Eden Park. A hand coloured image of Albert Park, Auckland, a photograph of Tauranga, and photographs of the Queenstown area (The Remarkables, Lake Wakatipu) were taken by unidentified commercial photographers. Description: One group portrait, an albumen print, of men with guns, possibly hunters, titled 'At the Butts Reefton Queen's Jubilee'. Notes on back read 'Luch. NZ Alpine Photo'. Photographer unidentified. Taken in 1887 or 1897 (The Golden Jubilee of 1887 celebrated 50 years of Queen Victoria's reign. Her Diamond Jubilee was held in 1897.) One of men and a woman in a canoe on the Avon River, Christchurch, taken circa 1900 by an unidentified photographer. One of Dawson Falls Mountain House, Mount Taranaki, showing children outside, taken circa 1900 by an unidentified photographer. Four taken during World War II comprising: A scene with troops on board a ship to Crete, Greece, showing Maori troops, possibly members of the Maori Battalion, performing an action song. Description: Souvenir prints are in five packets and show scenes in Queenstown, Tauranga (2 packs), Wairakei and Wanganui. Queenstown images are `Real Photographs' by G V Wilkinson (photographer unidentified). Tauranga images are in two packs comprising one pack of `Real Photographs' published by Tanner Bros Ltd (photographer unidentified) and probably dating from the late 1930s, and one pack printed for Mills, Peacock & Co Ltd taken by N Seaward of Dunedin and dating from the 1950s. Wairakei images were taken by an unidentified photographer. The Wanganui images were printed for H K Jones and son, and taken by N S Seaward of Dunedin. They date from the early 1950s and all have descriptions written on the backs. Nine postcards show views of the Franz Josef Glacier, Napier, Auckland, Te Wairoa and Cromwell. Identified photographers are Whites Aviation, N S Seaward and A B Hurst & Son. Seven photographs are of floats in the Canterbury Centenial floral parade, 1950. Two of the floats advertise Beaths and Ballantynes department stores. Quantity: 71 b&w original photographic print(s).
