In existence as a Guild in the 1930s. Registered as an industrial union under the ICA Act in 1938. Merged with the New Zealand Merchant Service Guild in 1988. The term 'Guild' appears to have been used occasionally after 1938.

Description: The collection comprises minutes, circulars, some correspondence, membership lists and a folder of industrial disputes involving the union. Source of title - Supplied by Library Registered as an industrial union in 1938, the union represented the interests of the shore clerical employees of shipping companies. Later it expanded to include employees of travel agencies. Owing to retrenchment, member numbers declined in the 1970s. In 1988 it merged with New Zealand Merchant Service Guild. Quantity: 11 folder(s). Provenance: Deposited by the Guild at the Wellington Museum, during its Maritime Museum period.
