Description: Charles Edward Douglas, alongside a maimai, at the mouth of the Wanganui River, north bank, September 1893. Photograph taken by Arthur Paul Harper. This photograph is part of the Pascoe collection and was probably part of the research for the book `Mr Explorer Douglas' edited by Pascoe, 1957, although this photograph does not appear in the 1957 edition. Note on back of file print reads "`Mai Mai' north of Wanganui R Nth bank". I have assumed this meant the Wanganui River on the West Coast, as opposed the the Wanganui River (now known as the Whanganui) in the Manawatu-Wanganui Region. Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).
