Auckland Central Fire Station

City Fire Brigade Station (Auckland, N.Z.), Pitt Street Fire Station (Auckland, N.Z.)

The former Auckland Central Fire Station had frontages onto both Beresford Street and Pitt Street. The building was constructed in stages, the Beresford Street entrance comprising a bell tower with a copper dome, domestic quarters and main administrative block while the Pitt Street entrance housed the fire engines. The Pitt Street frontage (1901) is an excellent example of Queen Anne Revival. The Beresford Street entrance (1912) is an excellent exampel of Edwardian Baroque. The architectural firm of Goldsboro' and Wade built bought the original station in 1901 and the subsequent Beresford Street addition in 1912.
