Description: Chiefly photographic prints and corresponding negatives, chiefly images taken by John Scobie at ceremonies and gatherings on 21-22 November 1998 celebrating Tongariro National Park's dual World Heritage site status. This event also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention of 1972. Also copies (made by a friend of Scobie's) of early photographs of the area, including the building of the Tongariro Chateau. Also a photograph of Mangawhero Timber Company bridge on the Mangawhero River taken circa 1920s by an unidentified photographer. Includes photographs depicting the centenary of the completion of the North Island main trunk line, including the re-enactment of the drving of the last spike, taken Nov 2008 by John Scobie. Also includes a photograph album of images of the centenary celebration of the driving of the last spike on the North Island Main Trunk railway in 1908.
