Description: Shows a view along Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, looking across to St Peter's Church in the centre. It is a basilica plan church with a square castellated belltower. There is another related church building at the far right, partly obscured behind a large weeping willow tree. A two-horse open carriage comes along the street from the left, and at the far left a boy and girl walk away along the footpath. There is a horse-drawn cart in the middle left background, and other town buildings in the left background, including two other church buildings with spires. This building, known as Christ Church at the time it was painted, the second Christ Church building on this site, was dismantled and re-erected in Gonville, East Wanganui in 1920.
