Description: An instrumental ensemble consisting of violin, banjo, flageolet, concertina, triangle and bones, at the Armed Constabulary redoubt at Opunake. Photograph taken, probably in the 1870s, by Sharp & Sons of Wanganui. The initials 'C M' that form part of the inscription on the mat board probably refers to the American group the 'Christy Minstrels', which by this time had become a generic term for minstrel troupe.
