Description: Includes photographs of a general view of Gore looking east (panorama in 2 parts); traffic and railway bridges looking from the East Gore Esplanade; Main Street looking north; Fleming & Gilkinson's Flour mills and Tothill Watson & Co's Grain stores, Gorton Street; Mersey Street; Southland Frozen Meat Co works, Mataura; Churches; view of the Hokonui Hills from the Gore cemetery; Suspension bridge at Mataura; Graham Bros mining dredge on the Mataura River; Railway garden and main street after a snowstorm. The last leaf advertises W McGruar & Co (draper) and Vitadatio the great herbal remedy, manufactured in Wellington but obtainable from J Duncan & Co Gore. Description: Menu cover shows central text inside the shape of a Maori whare with ornate tekoteko and maihi. A moa stands at the left under a nikau palm, and there is a flax bush at the right. In the four corners are portraits of the Duk and Duchess, Richard John Seddon and Lord Ranfurly. Inside spread shows the menu, all in French, for "Souper". The border and centre feature nikau palms and tree ferns, and circular inset portraits of two Maori in traditional costume. A vignette of Mitre Peak is at top centre. 4 copies held. Other Titles - Ephemera relating to the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York. 1901. Folder 2 Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s).
