Description: Tourists stranded in Wellington as a result of a seamen's strike which disrupted the sailings of the interisland ferries. From the Left are Nellie Ancel, Jeff Ranch, Ann Johnston, Cynthia Merworth and Thane Kraut. Photographed on the 26th of September 1989 by Evening Post Staff photographer Mark Round. The seamen striking were those running the Arahura and Arahunga ferries. The issue was over redundancy notices issued by the Railways to five able seamen from each boat.
