Description: Papers relating to the production of the opera `Marama' or `The Mere and the Maori Maid in Two Acts'. Includes two original music scores of the opera, parts, a notebook of handwritten lyrics and another of typed lyrics with corrections by Ribbands and a book of words and songs published for the opera production. Also includes sheet music for other compositions by Don comprising of `Our Territorials', `A Maori-Medley Waltz' and `We shall get there in time'. `Marama' had its opening night in Hastings on November 16 1920. Performed by the Hastings Amateur Operatic Society, with Merekotia Amohau playing the lead. The show went on tour under the patronage of the Governor General, Lord Jellicoe, and was revived in 1940 featuring members of the original cast. Quantity: 1 box(es). 0.20 Linear Metres.
