Description: Shows a head and shoulders portrait of an elderly woman, Mrs Mary Stone, the great-great-grandmother of Katherine Mansfield. It is thought to have been drawn by her son-in-law, the English artist C R Leslie. The sitter wears a large bonnet with a bow on it, and a bow tied under the chin. Leslie, RA / 1794-1859 The artist Charles Robert Leslie married Harriet Honour Stone, the daughter of Samuel Stone and Mary Sneyd.
