Surveyor, interpreter, land agent, historian, racehorse owner and trainer of Taranaki. Born at Orakei, Auckland, on 4 April 1853, the son of william Farley Blake and Maata Takahi Tourawiri of the Titahi and Nga Mahanga subtribes of the Taranaki people. He married Eliza Hastings Vickery at St Benedicts Church, Newton, auckland, on 17 August 1885. In 1887 he moved to Hastings, where he died on 26 November 1940.
