St. Michael's Church (Lower Hutt, N.Z.)

First meeting held 1948. Officially declared a Parish in 1952 under the care of Father Joe Leahy. In 1964 the church building, situated in Tocker St, Taita, burnt down. A new Parish Centre was opened in 1966 on the site of the old church.

Description: Illuminated request for apostolic blessing for the 1961 marriage of Martin Vincent Egan and Marie Therese Moody at St Michael's Church, Taita. Features the letter "M", flowers and other decorations, an image of two rings joined together, and a pasted on picture of Pope John XXIII. Some letters have faded.
