Formerly a resident of the island of Jersey. A settler at Omata before 1860. The name may be spelled Touett, although the book Changing New Plymouth, by F. A. Butler, p. 1a refers to a Mr Touet. Edouard Touet arrived in Nelson in 1854. Touet or Touett was forced out of his home at Omata in March 1860 by hostile action from Maori. With other settlers he took refuge in Nelson. He died there in 1896. (Death announced in Hawera & Normanby Star, 12 November 1896. His name is given as Touett)
