Knowles, John, 1838-1925

Surveyor. Active in the Wellington provincial district. Resided in Marton, Wellington and Wanganui. Son of Henry Samuel Knowles and Lousia Marian Knowles. Arrived with his parents in 1841 aboard the ship 'Oriental'. Married Louisa Emily Lomax, eldest daughter of Emily Whitbread Lomax (later Mrs Robert Pharazyn) in 1865. Divorced in 1876. Died in 1925 in Wellington.
