Description: Diary kept by Bovis in 1874 of his voyage from London to New Zealand from 7 May to 4 Aug, in the emigrant ship, `Conflict'; the account was published by his brother, William Bovis, in 1874. He described the various events on board, including the time rose each morning, his family's adaptation to shipboard life, the weather, food, ports of call and land passed, and often dramatises a story out of an event.
