Came to New Zealand from Aberdeen and settled in Karori, Wellington where he made the Eden Vale Gardens. Donald Street and Donald Crescent are named after him. He had two sons and three daughters: Robert, James, Margaret Jane (Mrs F Thorby), Helen (Mrs R Suisted) and Anna.
