Russian ballet dancer and choreographer. Born in Paris, 13 January 1939, to Russian emigrant parents. Went to the United States in 1963 and joined New York City Ballet as a dancer, and later joined the London Festival Ballet. Formed 'The New London Ballet' with his wife Galina Samsova in November 1971. Worked as choreographer and Ballet Director at the Rome Opera House in 1977. Came to New Zealand in 1980 for "A Season with Andre Prokovsky" with ballets choreographed by Prokovsky. Died 15 August 2009.
