Description: Comprises photographs, probably taken by John Porteous, relating to his educational activities (mostly in native schools) and family. The localities are in the Gisborne Region and include Tikitiki, Tuparoa, and Reporua. Specifically, one group of photographs record a rugby match between Tikitiki and Rangitukia schools, and two others show Reporua school children collecting driftwood from the beach and participating in an Arbour Day celebration in 1912. There are a general views of Reporua and Tuparoa and one of Reporua School. Other images are of people grouped in front of unidentified meeting houses. There is also a view of East Cape, unidentified landscapes one with a bridge, a midden of human bones, and a group of Fijians in traditional dress The negatives are family photographs Arrangement: Negative at 1/4-107919-G to 1/4-107961-G Quantity: 23 b&w original photographic print(s). 44 b&w original negative(s).
