Description: A base map of rural lands and small grazing runs for lease in the Tauhara Survey District, on the shores of Lake Taupo, has been used by H. Hill to show his own land and other sections leased by him. Several farm blocks include pencilled monetary values while others are shaded and include positions of buildings. H. Hill's own section has handwritten notes 'Afforested & finish', 69 acres, Sold' and adjacent to this section a note states ' Letter to I. Hislop Oct 23/22 re leasing reserve/thermal sp.'. A handwritten pencilled note states 'George Wall, Waitahanui, Tender for fencing' with several pencilled arithmetical sums. The Taupo - Napier Road continues as hand-drawn lines in ink across farm sections. Several sections are marked as withdrawn. A hand-drawn compass indicates the aspect. A letter mounted on the bottom right of the map is a reply from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, K.M. Graham, to H. Hill about lease of extra land. The base map itself is of sections of lands in the Tauhara Survey District, Auckland Land District No. 1095. Includes references to Native Owners and Crown Land, a thermal springs reserve. An extensive statement on the left side of the map begins with the heading Rural Lands and small-grazing runs for lease, and include the date of 24th. October 1911 at the District Lands Office, Auckland. A schedule of the sections includes the valuations, acreages and rent. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow with the printed name of Eric C. Gold Smith, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Includes an abstract of the conditions of lease. Names listed are: G. Wehringo, Sarah E. Clark, Emma Clark, Annie Clark, H. Hill. The inset locality plan has been cut out and removed from the top right corner. Base map: Lands in Tauhara Survey District. Description: A base map of lands for selection on renewable lease at Puketarata has been used to emphasise the boundaries of farm blocks which are prominently outlined and include owners' names followed by R.L. (i.e. renewable lease) and applicable dates handwritten in each section. Swamps, lagoons, drained land and drains are marked and the state of the agricultural land is described. Sheds, stacks, styes, a silo and residences are marked. The direction of Kiokio Railway Station - 5 1/2 miles is marked as is Ouruwhero Block - native owners, and the main highway Otorohanga to Kihikihi. The base map itself is of sections 1S to 5S of the Puketarata settlement, Block XIV, Puniu Survey District. Auckland Land District No. 1500. An extensive statement on the left side of the map begins with the reference number 21/149/1042 followed by the heading Lands for Settlements Act. Details of lands for selection on renewable lease include the date of 23rd. May 1930 at the District Lands and Survey office, Auckland. A schedule of the five sections includes the valuations, acreages, rent and the statement 'Purchased from R.H. Hole, Esq.'. Instructions to applicants and a caution follow with the printed name of K.M. Graham, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Includes an abstract of the conditions of lease. The inset map is a locality plan of the area from Waiheke Island to Lake Taupo. The Puketarata settlement is indicated by a red arrow. Names listed are: K.P. McDonald, H.W. Gall, Mrs. A.R.
