War hero. Father of historian Michael King. Of Ohiwa Harbour in 1997; with Denis Glover during WWII and the friendship continued. Director of Carlton Carruthers du Chateau and King advertising firm, and founder of McKay King Advertising (bought by Saatchi and Saatchi in 1988). Best known for war experiences; awarded Distinguished Service Cross for efforts on December 31, 1942, when the ship HMS Onslow was attacked and severely damaged.
