Second child of well educated parents with a mature approach to child rearing, she and her sister grew up with both parents working full-time. Interested in town planning issues which was the focus of her columns in community newspaper. Her career as a cook/restaurateur started at Downstage Theatre in about 1967 when she was called in at the last minute when there was no cook.
