Southern Comedy Players

Southern Comedy Players was a drama group which began about 1957. In 1966 the title changed to Southern Players. Founders were Bernard L Esquilant and William Menlove. Patric Carey produced some productions. Other members (see photographs in "Charley's Aunt" programme at Eph-A-DRAMA-SCP-1957) were: Kenneth Akerman, Colleen Walling, Stuart James, Margo Carrigan, Ben Miller, Shirley Bulger, Jennifer Clout, Alex Aitchison. Additional members whose photographs appear in "Private lives" programme (Eph-A-DRAMA-SCP-1958) include: John Hunter, Rilla Stephens, Billie Dyer. Additional members whose photographs appear in "Free as air" (Eph-A-DRAMA-SCP-1960) include: Val Baker, Shirley Kelly, Mervyn Sarginson, Robin Stevens, Alison Hard, Wally Ruffe, Mervyn Jarvis, Bill Hargreaves, Michael Low, Frank Grayson, Peggy Turvey.
