Gives details of family background - paternal grandfather started seed merchant business, Doolittle & Dalley in 1883. Grandfather was pioneer who introduced sugar beet into Britain. Recalls memories of World War II and its effect on family. Trained as physiotherapist in Birmingham and after a few years experience secured employment in Christchurch (New Zealand). Describes meeting ship Chaplain, Peter Sutton, and marrying him 3 years later. Moved to Whangarei 1958 as husband became Archdeacon in the Far North (the `Cradle of the Anglican Development in New Zealand'), then Dunedin and Nelson. Describes Bishopdale (Bishop's residence). Talks about involvement in London Conference at Westminster Hall and experience of first Lambeth Conference attended (1968). Describes part played by women at those conferences and advancements made over the years. Mentions having set up Women's Refuge in Nelson. Gives details of involvement with National Council of Women and Friends of Court. Backgrounds decision to return to New Zealand because of father's death and mother's bad health and settling in Waihi. Discusses involvement in the establishment of the Community Resource Centre. Talks about position as manager of the Hauraki Enterprise Agency which aids small business groups and people who want to become self employed. Also talks about the huge environmental impact of mining on the community. Refers to Veronica Black, who was killed in a fatal accident ca 1987 - was the first community development worker to be employed in the region and wrote several books including the Spirit of the Coromandel.
