Correspondence includes letters from the University of Alberta inviting Stead to speak as part of their Distinguished Visitors programme. Includes correspondence from Charlotte Grimshaw. Also included in correspondence are several postcards, one photograph, and one letter written in German. Other documents include: - a printout of a 2015 article by Matt Stewart titled '81 Springbok protests galvanises a nation divided' - journal entries by Stead dated 14-21 September 1981, writing about the Springbok tour protests - a booklet of poems by Patrick Lane titled 'There are still the mountains' - pages from a 1981 newsletter from the League of Canadian Poets - photocopy of an article titled 'Critic who declines to hedge his bets' by A K Grant, which reviewed Stead's book 'In the Glass Case: Essays on New Zealand Literature'. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Papers in the this folder were originally bound with a binder clip. A note at the front of the papers reads: "1981-2. 15 or so Curnow items removed to the green envelope. Also 2 A.S. Byatt letters removed. 17-10-2018 - These have been checked through for the memoir."
