Description: In this interview Jim Brodie talks about his late wife, Audrey Brodie who was born in Wellington and brought up in Wanganui as an orphan. Mentions her lifelong friends, Gwitha Haggie and McClymont family. Recalls that she trained as a radar operator in Levin and worked on Journal of Science and Technology at DSIR for 2 years before sitting teacher's C certificate. In 1955 she worked for the Royal Society of New Zealand Library in Zoology building at Victoria University and was Librarian at National Health Institute. Was involved with: Eastern Suburbs Spinners & Weavers; National Consultative Committee on Disarmament; Indonesia 1972-1977 with work for Lutheran Group in Jakarta with recovered lepers; UNICEF on texts in English for Indonesian schools; involvement with Quakers, working as assistant clerk, librarian, clerk Quaker Peace & Service, and as their representative on Religious Broadcasting Advisory Committee of Radio New Zealand, Education Commission, National Council of Churches and Methodist & Presbyterian Public Questions Committee.
