Description: Peter Fyfe backgrounds his interest in mussel farming in 1970, getting licence 1973 and first farm, Fairy Bay in 1975. Refers to Dr John McIntyre professor Marine biology, Melbourne University; Roy Gunn, Gyro Plastics in Linden; Frank Delaney; Don Burke and Jim Jenkins. Recalls buying boat, `Tutanekai', built by Ernie Lane 1931, Picton. Describes home which he bought from Ross Menzies (1979/80), an old Four Square shop in Havelock built 1865 to serve Brownlee's mill and miners, now a historic building. Discusses experiences while ferrying mussel floats from Mana to Sounds and difficulties with Ministry of Transport which resulted in court case which was dismissed.
