Richardson, Fanny Eva, 1872-1954

Daughter of George Frederick Richardson. In 1890 she went with her sisters Lillie and Ethel to the sub-Antarctic islands in the Government steamer Hinemoa. She never married and lived in Wellington where she devoted her time to painting in water-colours. She was a regular exhibitor at the Academy of Fine Arts (1889-1907) and illustrated for the Forest and Bird magazine. She donated an oil painting of Dunedin to the Library in 1948 (The Book of New Zealand women / edited by Charlotte Macdonald et al). The painting donated was by James Richardson, the donor's uncle, showing Pelechit Bay, Dunedin (G-593), a copy of Charles Kettle's 1849 view of Dunedin.
