Hone Ri Ngakoha was baptised in 1843 at Cloudy Bay. Although Hone cannot be identified he proabably had Ngati Toa - Ngati Rarua - Ngati Koata or Te Ati Awa whakapapa because these tribes occupied the Cloudy Bay - Wairau area at this time.
