Ria Te Uira, active 1841

Ria Te Uira was the daughter of Te Kanae, a chief of Ngati Toa and Tutari Karoraina - the daughter of Te Rauparaha. Ria Te Uira married Peneta Nohoa of Kai Tahu. This was a takawaenga marriage between Ngati Toa and Kai Tahu. Ria was baptised in 1842 along with her father Te Kanae and her mother Tutari Karoraina at Cloudy Bay.
