Description: Two accounts by Dallas dealing with Public Works activities in Milford Sound in the years 1931-1932. One describes the first land-based two-way radio communication between Milford and the rest of New Zealand and the other with the installation of the William Quill Plaque, the installation of the first wireless transmitter/receiver at the hostel and the visit of HMS `Laburnum'. Photographer, Ray S Ryan, was working on the site. Images show construction sites and waterways (probably Waikato River). -Photographic prints, and corresponding negatives, of the tunnel boring machine at the east portal of the Kaimai Railway Tunnel, taken circa 1971.
