St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church (Hutt, N.Z.)

At a Knox Session meeting on the 30 Apr 1926, the Rev McCaw advised that Presbytery had confirmed the division of the parish as from 1 Jul 1926, Woburn Road Parish (as St Stephen's was then designated) being all parts south of Waterloo Road to the northern boundary of St David's, Petone. Seven months later the Rev J E Lopdell was inducted as the first minister of the new charge of St Stephen's. St Stephen's Presbyterian Church has been subsumed into the Hutt City Uniting Congregations. (for earliery history of the church see St Stephen's Presbyterian Sunday School, Lower Hutt, 1911-1961. The expanding population led to a subsequent establishment of St Stephen's Parish in 1926. A separate church, St-Aidans-on-the Hill, was built in Normandale in the 1970s.
