Anderson, Margaret, active 1950

Christchurch artist, (painter and potter), née Margaret Anderson, who exhibited with The Group in the early 1950s. From 1948 she led the campaign to purchase Frances Hodgkins' painting 'The pleasure garden' for the City of Christchurch. The city resisted the campaign. Finally, a group of private subscribers bought the painting. They presented it to the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, Christchurch, in 1951.
